Oberlander, Hutchinson Announce Grants for Improvement Projects
3/26/2024
HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong) and Sen. Scott Hutchinson (R-Butler/Clarion/Erie/Forest/Venango/Warren) today announced nearly $678,000 million in funding from the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program after the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved the financial request.

The first grant awarded was to Monroe Township for $599,584 to pave three roads within Trinity Point Development, which is expanding affordable housing opportunities for the community.

“I have been working with Trinity Point for several months and I’m happy to see this funding become a reality,” Oberlander stated. “It is a win/win for the community in getting some much-needed infrastructure improvements while paving the way to address critical housing needs for our greater community.”

Sen. Scott Hutchinson echoed those sentiments.

“This project will help pave the way for a planned affordable housing community called Southview Village,” said Hutchinson. “Housing costs continue to impact families in our community, and this project is a step toward addressing that issue and helping folks achieve the American Dream.”

The second project funded is to the Borough of New Bethlehem for $178,000 for the preliminary engineering for the Route 28 connector project.

“This funding is necessary to reconstruct and repair our roads,” said Oberlander. “Inadequately maintained roads puts our safety in jeopardy and costs millions of dollars in lost economic productivity. I’m proud to have helped secure funding for these important projects and to work with our local officials to keep them moving them forward.”

“This design funding for a connector road in New Bethlehem is great news for both borough residents and businesses as it will reduce congestion and smooth traffic flow to Route 28,” said Hutchinson. “The success of this project is due largely to good strategic planning.”

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
